Competitive Advantage:
High strength and good toughness: the yield strength is about twice that of austenitic stainless steel, the tensile strength ≥ 640MPa, and the elongation δ ≥ 25%. At the same time the steel also has good impact toughness, can withstand a certain degree of external impact and not easy to fracture.
Excellent corrosion resistance: corrosion resistance in most environments is better than 316L and 317L. strong resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and acidic solutions, dual-phase microstructure helps to improve the resistance to stress corrosion cracking, excellent performance in chloride-containing environments.
Good processing and welding properties:can be cut and cold formed, although due to its own high strength and hardness, more than austenitic steel needs to be cold formed, but can still be processed by appropriate processes. Weldability is good, the weld metal and heat-denatured parts can maintain the same corrosion resistance, strength and toughness and the base metal, but need to design appropriate welding procedures to maintain good phase equilibrium.
Good corrosion fatigue resistance: high strength and corrosion resistance make it have high corrosion fatigue strength, suitable for processing equipment and other susceptible to corrosive environments and loading cycles.
Applications:
1.4462 stainless steel is widely used in many severe working conditions due to its high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good processing and welding performance. In the field of marine engineering, it is commonly used in the pipelines, valves and platform structural parts of seawater treatment system, which can effectively resist the erosion of high concentration of chloride ions in seawater, and at the same time, the high strength can withstand the complex load of the marine environment; in the chemical industry, it is suitable for the lining of reaction kettle and pipeline in contact with chlorine-containing medium and acidic solution, and the resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion can guarantee the long-term stable operation of the equipment. In the oil and gas industry, it is commonly used in oil and gas transportation pipelines, wellhead devices, etc. It can withstand corrosion of sulfur-containing media, and its high strength can cope with high-pressure environments.
